Warts & Verrucae assessment and treatment at GP Private Services is led by Dr Sumit Aggarwal, an experienced GP with dermatology-focused qualifications and clinical experience.
GP Private Services offers assessment-led review and treatment advice for selected suitable warts & verrucae from a private clinic in Poole, serving patients across Poole, Bournemouth and Dorset.
Each lesion is reviewed first to check whether it appears suitable for treatment. If there is diagnostic uncertainty, suspicious change or concern that the lesion may need further assessment, appropriate next steps will be discussed.
What are warts and verrucae?
Warts are common viral skin growths that can appear on the hands, fingers, feet or other areas of the skin. Verrucae are warts that occur on the soles of the feet and may become uncomfortable because of pressure when walking.
Some warts and verrucae settle without treatment, but others can persist, spread, become uncomfortable or cause cosmetic concern.
Assessment before treatment
Before treatment, the lesion will be assessed to check whether it appears consistent with a wart or verruca and suitable for treatment.
Not every thickened, raised or rough area of skin is a wart or verruca. If a lesion is pigmented, changing, bleeding, crusting, painful, irregular or uncertain in appearance, treatment may not be offered and a mole check, biopsy, referral or specialist dermatology assessment may be advised instead.
Treatment options
Selected suitable warts and verrucae may be treated with CryoPen O+ cryotherapy or another appropriate approach depending on the lesion type, site, thickness, symptoms and clinical assessment.
The most suitable option will be discussed during your appointment, including expected healing, aftercare and possible risks such as soreness, blistering, redness, pigment change, scarring, incomplete response or recurrence.

Important Note
Warts and verrucae are treated only where the lesion appears suitable after assessment.
If a lesion appears suspicious, uncertain, changing, pigmented, irregular, bleeding, crusting or not clearly benign, treatment may not be offered. A mole check, biopsy, minor surgery, referral or specialist dermatology assessment may be advised instead.
Cryotherapy, including CryoPen treatment, is not used for suspicious pigmented lesions or lesions needing proper diagnostic assessment.
Warts & Verruca Treatment FAQs
Can warts and verrucae be treated with CryoPen O+?
Some suitable warts and verrucae may be treated with CryoPen O+ cryotherapy after assessment. Suitability depends on the site, size, thickness, symptoms and clinical appearance.
Can treatment be done in one appointment?
Treatment may be possible in one appointment if the lesion appears suitable and treatment is clinically appropriate. Some warts and verrucae may require more than one treatment session.
Will wart or verruca treatment hurt?
Cryotherapy can cause stinging, soreness or discomfort during and after treatment. Blistering, redness or tenderness can occur as part of the healing process.
Can warts or verrucae come back?
Yes. Warts and verrucae can recur or new lesions can develop, because they are caused by a common skin virus. More than one treatment session may be needed.
When should I book a mole or lesion check instead?
If a lesion is pigmented, changing, bleeding, crusting, unusually dark, painful, irregular or uncertain in appearance, a mole or skin lesion check may be more appropriate before any treatment is considered.
